Refuse unwanted mail and remove name from mailing lists - USPS. Mail delivered into a privately owned receptacle, designated by postal regulations as a depository for receipt or delivery of mail, is protected as long as the mail remains in the box. All nonmailable articles of restricted matter discovered in the mailstream must immediately be reported in accordance with the provisions in the Postal Operations Manual (POM) or , as appropriate.

The case involved California's Obscenity Law, which criminalized the mailing of obscene material. Defendant Marvin Miller was convicted under the law after conducting a mass mailing of sexually. It typically takes 3 - 7 days depending on the speed of the USPS (which can actually be quite fast). Same if we’re shipping you a box of cards. International cards and boxes generally take 7 - 10 days, though due to different postal services, customs and other factors they can potentially take MUCH longer.
